Driving an active youth workforce

Driving an active youth workforce

We’re designing 4 new services that help young people find work, employment or training.

Across NW Europe the number of young people not in employment is increasing at a time when an active youth
workforce is most needed to support the ageing population. In Western Europe, 1 in 4 people aged 17 to 42 are
unemployed. In Wales, Belgium and Ireland youth unemployment has risen dramatically in recent years; with
almost twice as many people in this age group claiming unemployment benefit than in 2008.

The SPIDER project will aim to use design to reduce the number of young people not in employment by designing
and re-designing services that better preparing young people for the professional work environment and increase
the uptake of jobs, work experience and apprenticeships.
